5/27/06 - The Magic Silver Team had a fun and positive Memorial Day weekend in Reno, NV. Finishing in the final four, the Magic were a mere four points away from making it to the championship game, an accomplishment months in the making and a bittersweet cap to a brilliant weekend.

(Left to right) Stephanie Palomino, Amber Edmond and Devon McDonald pause to flash a smile between games.

5/9/06 - The Silver Team had a positive weekend in Reno, going 2-2 and playing on one side or the other of four blowout games.  The Magic girls look forward to finishing strong as the spring winds down.

5/1/06 - The Silver Team took 3rd at the Mission Rec tournament last weekend, 4/29-4/30. After a misstep in the first game against the San Jose Cagers, the Magic pulled it together to cruise to victory in the next two contests. In the third place game the Magic scored 39 points in the first half, and would have scored more if coach hadn't put the brakes on.
The young ladies of the Silver Team are looking forward to working hard and having fun in Reno next weekend, and can't wait for the return of their fallen teammate, Melodie Chatman, who went down with an ankle injury in the EBX tournament. Always an on-the-court inspiration, Mel isn't letting the crutches or air cast slow her down too much, attending practices and games, and trying to resist the temptation to throw down her crutches and chase down a loose ball or two.

After being named the Magic's Most Improved Player in the EBX tournament a week ago, 6'2" center Sarah Nelson continued her
terrorization of the basket on defense, blocking everything within arm's reach at Mission Rec.  And those are two very long arms. Sarah  recorded 12 blocks in a five point loss to Mission Rec 11's a week ago, and, alongside her running mate Samantha Kixmiller, is quickly emerging as one of the most impactful young post players in the area.
One of the most positive notes from the weekend is that in both of the final two games of the Mission Rec Tourny, every player on the Magic Silver Team scored. Who says kids don't know how to share?

4/6/06 - The Silver Team went 3-0 last weekend at the East Bay Classic to capture the first place honors in the 12U bracket. In a return to the gym at Seven Hills, the place of origin for the Silver Team, the girls earned their first championship since forming all those months back. Behind the combined inside presence of Samantha Kixmiller, Sarah Nelson and Melodie Chatman, the Magic had convincing victories over the Redwood City Renegades and St. Patrick's.

In the second game of the tourny against the East Bay Panthers, the Magic got out to an early lead but allowed the Panthers to close the gap late in the game. In an impressive show of teamwork and determination though, the Silver Team never allowed East Bay to tie the game and went on to complete an undefeated weekend.

Leticia "Moses" Oceguera and Taylor Poulin  continued their role as the two-headed point guard, leading the team with the type of iron will possessed only by the widest-smiling, basketball-loving 12-year-old  girls in America. Gina DelBene and Stephanie Palomino continued making great strides in their game, continually wowing the audience with Gina's offensive moves, Steph's fastbreaks, and both their constant hustle. Samantha Kixmiller had a tournament high 21 points against St. Patrick's.

For her standout improvements since playing in the last tournament, Kaylah Jones was named by the Magic coaches as this tournament's Most Improved Player. Kaylah was awarded the tournament trophy in recognition of her efforts.
