7/7/08 -Their 3rd game of the EOT Tourney found the Red Team hitting their stride against Cal Swish San Diego White. Senior guard Watta Grace continued her aggressive and physical play alongside Arienne Johnson’s defense and Krissy Tran’s dazzling passes and 3pt shooting. Gina Del Bene added 4 steals and 10 pts without missing a field goal and Alyssa Johansen put up 15 pts with 8 rebounds in her finest performance of the tournament only to be outdone by senior Sarah Wade. Halfway through the first half Wade, a center, stroked a three without hesitation. She was 1 for 1 beyond the arc on her way to a triple double, recording 18 rebounds, 10 blocks, and 15 pts. Magic closed out the game with lock-down defensive play winning 56-46.

7/7/08-In the 2nd day of competition at the EOT Tourney, the Orinda Magic Red faced Utah Sky White in a back and forth game that saw two Magic players fall to injury. Starting point Stephanie Palomino and junior point Anna Nguyen were hurt on near identical plays, as each drove aggressively to the basket. Senior guard Krissy Tran and senior center Sarah Wade picked up the slack as Tran posted 13 points shooting 43% from 3 and adding 4 steals while Wade gathered up 11 rebounds and 6 blocks in a losing effort.

7/6/08 -On the first day of play at the End of the Trail Tournament in Oregon, Orinda Magic Red encountered stiff competition in the form of Oregon club, Clutch Players. After falling behind 23 pts in the first half, Red rallied back behind sophomore forward Terri Powell to cut the lead to single digits before being overwhelmed 51-34.

6/29/08 -As play continued in Berkeley, Red was joined by their 4 new teammates Anna Nguyen, Watta Grace, Krissy Tran and Sarah Wade.

6/29/08 -The summer presented Red with some new challenges as they began the Cal Jam Fest in Berkeley with just 5 players. Though they were able to break even with a tough Stockton team after one half, the concrete fundamental play of guards Alyssa Johanson, Stephanie Palomino and Leticia Oceguera combined with the post play of Terri Powell and the defense of Arienne Johnson could not be sustained without subs.

4/2/07 - The Red Team finished in the Final Four of their bracket at the "California Classic" with wins over VGB, Pacific Fury and OC Elite Black-15. Throughout the weekend, deadly outside shooting from Alex Smolen and Taylor Rojas, who combined to shoot over 40% from beyond the arc in the three games. The strong inside play of Chelsey Christensen, who led the team in rebounds and was even in the scoring column with Rojas, came at a key time as center, Stephanie Golden, went down with an ankle sprain in the second game. In the end, the team came within a mere two points of the championship round in their loss to The Wood. For final results go to calsparks.com or click the following link.  RESULTS

After Easter Break, the Red team heads to the "Thunderdome" at U.C. Santa Barbara for the "Spring Fling," Apr. 13-15, The tournament is NCAA certified for collegiate observation during this NCAA Open Evaluation weekend. For more info on this event go to nationalbasketball.com

7/27/06 - Orinda Magic Red went .500 at the River City Classic in what can only be considered as a success of a weekend.  The Plano Hotshots, who were narrowly defeated by the Magic in the first round went on to win the remainder of their games and take sixth place. Oregon City, who handed the Magic their first loss of the tourney, went on to win not only the bracket but the overall American Division Championship.  The Magic responded to that loss by handling the Arizona Sting in the following game, before falling to Evergreen on a buzzer beater in the fifth place game. Taneya Sawangan was awarded all-tournament honors for her efforts in Memphis.
